Hawaii was a lot of fun but it was super exhausting. We had family events the first 5 days we were there (Stan's cousin was getting married so we had a mini-family reunion, welcome dinner for the out-of-towners and the wedding plus visiting with Stan's 90 year old grandma and his cousins who had kids the same age as mine...). We went to the beach and ate at local hangouts. Did lots of walking around Ala Moana Mall and down Kalakaua in Waikiki - so many high end stores, it was fun to enjoy the sunshine while walking and window shopping with the kids... the beach was just behind the stores... :) We visited with our good friends who were vacationing around the same time. We also hung out with Kimee (remember her from Hi-5?). When she found out we were going to be there at the same time, she and I coordinated hanging out and eating puu puus (appetizers). The kids never got off California time so they would wake up at 4am despite going to bed at 9 or 10 every night (after our many family dinners). I was soooooo exhausted when we got home. Ryan with a baby bird on his head! (it landed right next to him while we were shopping at the swap meet... it climbed up on Stan's finger and flew onto Ry's hat where it stayed... for quite a while!)
Kaili & Kiana (along with Marissa, Stephanie and Brianna from Boston) wearing their hakuleis that the bride's grandma made for them... she's in her 80's and has Parkinson's yet she still managed to make 5 hakuleis for the little girls and a few regular leis (for the boys)... they meant so much to us!!!
Ian (who is only 6 months older than Ryan but stands at 4'10"), Ryan, Kiana, Holden (who is 5 years 3 months old - 2 inches taller and 20lbs heavier than Ryan!) and Kaili - the cousins!!!
