August 2005

sorry i haven't been around much the past few weeks... this is the first chance i've had to post in a very long time...

RY-RY THE KINDERGARTEN GUY...
Ry starts kindergarten next Wednesday - he can't wait!!! i finished shopping for his supplies (though not everything is here in our posession at this moment - they requested stuff that isn't easy to find around here - i.e. Prang brand watercolors and crayons - whatever happened to good ol' Crayola??? i had to order that stuff online!) Ry has been keeping busy this summer with T-Ball and playdates with some of his preschool buddies - two that we've spent a lot of time with are Tyler and Ryudo. he really enjoys them. we've also been spending time with my best friend's son, Zachary and doing stuff with our friends (The Reyes') that we do pretty much everything with...

Ry loves to cook --- here he is making a pizza...

KIANA IS OFFICIALLY A PRESCHOOLER!!!
Kiana started preschool on Monday. she's had the typical first-time-away-from-Mommy-and-not-feeling-secure-yet syndrome so she has cried a little her first 3 days, but she's getting so much better! i'm so proud of her! of all 3 of my kids, despite her Diva-ness, she's the one who is most insecure. i think it's the "Jan Brady" thing. Ry never cried at preschool - and Kaili would love to go in Kiana's place - she doesn't seem to worry about anything... here's Miss Kiana on her first day of preschool...

getting ready for school - she was very excited... i got her the poncho as her "first day of preschool" present and she was so happy...

Kiana and Daddy getting ready to leave

a little girl named Wei-Ching (?) that she met during her orientation last week came to get her at the door...

ok... now she's nervous... poor little thing!!!

KAILI - MY SWEET LITTLE... BULLY!!!
What is it with this kid? She's such a sweetheart - but is agressive like nothing i've ever seen! she will knock the other kids over and pull their hair just for fun! i think she gets some joy out of making Ryan and Kiana cry. she's such a big kid now... she's 14 months younger than Kiana but is the same height and weighs a few pounds more. she is talking up a storm and climbing all over everything. once things get settled with Kiana and Ryan in school, Kaili and i will find some fun activities to do - just the two of us...

HOUSE HUNTING
y'all know that we've been house hunting for the past few months. now that Stan's parents are in the process of purchasing our house (they're turning it into a rental property), we are now in the position to actually buy our new home. i've been working with our realtor for a few months now and have not found anything that i "loved" until now... this weekend when we were hitting open houses, we found *the one* - we drove up to it and i told Stan, "i think this is it... this is the one..." walking into the house, Stan grinned at me and told me to contain my excitement while he spoke to the listing agent - he wanted me to chill so that we didn't seem too eager. it was so hard, though!!! anyway, when we left the open house, we immediately called our real estate agent and told her that we wanted to bid on the house. they're asking i'm so afraid to get my hopes up for this house. it's exactly what we want - but there are still some bidding wars going on here in the area. the house is at the top of our budget - pushing it higher will bring us to a price point we would be comfortable with. the house is GORGEOUS! it's $918K - pick the jaws up off the ground - this is Northern California (Silicon Valley / SF Bay Area), remember? the house is about 2500 square feet. 5 bedrooms + a loft... on the corner of a semi-private street... walking distance from the elementary school... beautiful landscaping... awesome floorplan... {{{sigh}}} we have to wait until next week when the sellers return from vacation to see if our bid was accepted... fortunately, our loan has been pre-approved so once we hear if the house is ours, we can move fairly quickly... please keep fingers, toes, legs, eyes (ouch!), etc. crossed for us!!!

it's so ridiculous that we have to pay that much for a house... a small one at that!!! but unfortunately, that's how much it costs to live here... :( this was one of the few 5 bedroom houses in the area we are looking that we cold actually afford! most 4 bedroom houses around here start in the high $800Ks.... sad that we purchased our 1640 sf house that we live in now for $352K about 6 years ago - we just sold it for $730K... isn't that nuts???? housing prices are ridiculous here!!! then again... everything costs crazy amounts here --- Northern California challenges Manhattan in terms of expense, i think - and where we live is MUCH cheaper than the rest of the Bay Area. (San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Santa Clara are waaaaayyyyy more expensive! a little loft or a studio starts at $1 million!)

ASTHMA
i FINALLY got the referral from my doc to go to the Asthma/Allergy specialist. after this last round of prednisone, we found that i still wasn't doing all that great, so i pretty much begged for the referral - i'll be heading to the specialist on Tuesday. they'll try to figure out what is triggering my episodes. i pray that we figure it out so that i can get this all under control again...

Kail's asthma has been pretty bad, too. she's back on regular breathing treatments. it's so sad to see my little 2-year-old doing nebulizer treatments 3 times a day but she's a trooper! she even gives herself her Singulair medicine at night! such a big girl. i think her asthma and mine are probably both allergy related - ever since the weather changed (again!), we've both had a hard time... hmmmm...

that's all i can muster up for my August recap... :) will write more as i can remember... the goal is to start blogging more... hope it happens!
